We are thrilled to be able to offer whole heritage pigs raised right here on our farm in Bloomery, West Virginia. They have been rasied on pasture and in the forest, grazing and foraging for roots, leaves, black walnuts, acorns and hickory nuts. Supplemented with locally grown non-gmo grains and hay. We currently have 4 different options(breeds) for the upcoming USDA butcher date 01/14/25.
Whole hogs will be roughly 400-500lbs live weight at butcher date. Price is $4.50/lb hanging weight. There is also processing fees of $1.05/lb hanging weight. Vacuum sealed and custom cut to your liking. Once ordered, you will be contacted via email with a cut sheet to select your own cuts.
To reserve your whole hog share we do require a non-refundable deposit of $500 that will go toward your final invoice. You must pick up from our farm, no delivery or shipping is available. Select local pick up to avoid shipping costs.
We have 4 breeds/crosses available. They are all fairly similar in taste, flavor and size. These are heritage breed hogs with a mangalitsa cross. Also known as the kobe beef of pork, mangalitsa hogs are a Hungarian old world breed, known for their high omega-3 fat that marbles each cut of meat and that can be rendered down into beautiful white lard. The meat is a beautiful red in color and rich in flavor. Please select which type of hog you want to reserve; we have 4 options -
1. Pure Mangalitsa
2. Tamworth x Mangalitsa - leanest out of the group
3. Meishan x Mangalitsa - bigger bellies
4. Ibericho x Mangalitsa - larger hams
